We encourage you to send any recommendations and relevant content that you think would enhance the network. Each submission will help us to expand the site and encourage others to join on to the project. If you have any general questions or if you have more than a few recommendations for us, you can contact Richard Tucker directly at rptucker@umich.edu.

To give you a better idea of what we are looking for, we have compiled some guidelines for sending us specific kinds of contributions:

Are you developing ideas towards eventual publication and looking for constructive feedback? Are you looking to promote and distribute any recent publications that may be of use to our network? Please consider submitting any part of these that may fit into the categories below.

Brief explanation of categories:

  • Recent publication: We want to highlight recent work published by members and relating to the connection between military and the environment, placing an emphasis on amplifying and promoting new scholarship and new scholars in that space.
  • State of the art: A discussion of what is currently being worked on, how interdisciplinary and inter-organizational cooperative efforts are shaping scholarship, and which questions are ripe for additional examination in the cross-section of military and environmental research.
  • Book/publication of the year: A yearly review of the books and publications that have most advanced and impacted our understanding of environmental and military legacies and impacts.
  • Current Events Connection: A discussion of the precursors to or similar historical situations to current events, with the goals of providing context to topical discussions and providing a venue in which scholars can develop some of their rough ideas.
  • Round-table Review: A new or rediscovered publication is reviewed by 2-3 appointed participants and a moderator ties together common lessons learned and questions raised in the context of Environment & Military research.
